In 1965, as freshmen, the class of 1969 had 309 members; in 1969, as seniors, the class has 214 members. We seniors cherish the memories of the four years we have spent at RHS.
As freshmen, we chose Steve Morris as our President; Danny Zirkle, Vice‑President; Kathleen Curry, Secretary; Kathy Reed, Treasurer; and Jim Morris, Representative. Candy Bailes and James Furr represented our class in Miss Lumberjacks Court. The American Legion Citizenship Awards were presented to Thelma Gwinn and Tom Brugnoli, Mrs. Morris sponsored our class and we extend our appreciation for her time and patience.
1966‑1967 brought us into our sophomore year which made us more confident and proud. We elected Gary Dean as President; Tom Brugnoli, Vice‑President; Thelma Gwinn, Secretary; Steve Morris, Treasurer; Jack Mundy, Representative. Mike Boggs, Maria Deitz, James Tyree, and Kathy Weaver were chosen to attend Camp Horseshoe. Lesley Bowyer and Steve Morris were our Sophomore Attendants in the Homecoming Court. Mrs. Smith and Mr. Prendergast were our new class sponsors.
1967-1968 found us as juniors with only one year left of our high school years. As juniors, we worked to prepare for the future. Tom Brugnoli led our class through this year. Helping him were Steve Morris, Vice-President; Kathy Weaver, Secretary; Mike Chewning, Treasurer; and Mike Thomas, Representative to the Student Council. Our Miss Lumberjack Attendants were Kathern Sullivan and Jack Mundy. Maria Deitz, Connie Jarrell, and Catherine Viers attended Girls State and James Tyree attended Boys State. Sherlain Roberts was chosen to attend Camp Horseshoe. Mr. Baker, Mrs. Smith, and Mr. Prendergast helped us make our Junior-Senior Dance, Shower of Stars, successful and we added more happy memories to our collection.
We treasure the history of our class that is recorded in this 1969 Lumberjack. Our future holds great promises that we will realize after we leave. With us we will have these four years as Stepping Stones to guide us.
K. Sullivan, 1969 Lumberjack
